Preliminary Analysis
Pilot’s inadequate compensation for a wind gust during landing

Examination

According to the pilot’s written statement, on the morning of July 19 th 2020, upon
checking the weather on Garmin Pilot, the forecast conditions was with no notams. He also
conducted preflight inspection and found no issues or concerns. Everything was normal and as
expected upon take-off and deportation. It was upon an enroute when a scattered light rain
showers in the area was developing and it was then she decided not to land in PHK to avoid any
rain showers. The remainder of the pattern decent was normal but right at the point of
touchdown, the aircraft was hit by a strong gust of wind which immediately caused the airplane
to pitch up in a very high nose up aptitude. Thus, the pilot instigated that there were no
mechanical malfunctions and precluded normal operation.

This was demonstrated and recognized by the final analysis and aircraft damage report
of Federal Aviation Administration stating that the aircraft empennage tail was found pitch
upward with the main landing gear hanging and the inspection of rudder and elevator found
was positive movement in both directions. Aircraft sustained major structural damage to the
front of the aircraft from the entire engine section, firewall and cockpit structure area. In sum,
the pilot suffered serious injury and the airplane was extensively damaged by the accident.

Validation of Findings

On the final investigation and analysis, there was no existence of any mechanical
malfunctions on the airplane as proved by the incident instigate on the causal of the accident.
Therefore, the accident is rooted by the precocious shift of the weather which is peripheral in
nature.
