History Background

Barangay Ayusan Norte is bounded on the north by barraca ti ili ( now Solid West ), o the east by
Barangay Pagburnayan (now Baranagay VII), on the west of Barangay Pantay Daya and Baranay Pantay
Fatima by the tributary of the Abra River (more popularly called the Mindoro River ), and on the south ,
Baranay Paoa , Barangay and Barangay Ayusan Sur.

The place was sparsely populated during the early part of the Spanish Period . It was only place were
flood -water found its way to a river flowing towards the China Sea. Many houses that were washed
away during the typhon and floods drifted to river bank near Ayusan. It was for this reason for people of
other villages called the place “ AYUSAN “, an Ilocano word , which refers to place where water flows.

The old barangay Ayusan is now Divided into two : Ayusan Norte And Ayusan Sur. Ayusan Norte is more
economically progressive as it is the home of rice and corn trillers. Ayusan Sur is the pot makers ,
market vendors.
