ÉDITH PIAF

She was born the 19th of december of 1915 in

Paris, Tercera República Francesa, She died the
10th of October of 1953 in Plasscasier, France.

Édith was one of the most important singers of

the 10th century. That was because of her unique
personality, Piaf inspired numerous composers
and mentored young artists who rose to
international fame. She also stood out as a film
and theater actress, participating in numerous
films and plays throughout her artistic career.

She worked in her father's company until she was left in the care of her grandmother
to dedicate herself to her tours of the villages of the French countryside.

Her grandmother Clarissa hers raised her with wine instead of water, as she said it was
"bad" for her body; her aunt, who lived with her, ran a brothel. She did not speak, did
not laugh, did not walk and on top of her she had meningitis that left her blind.

At the age of 15, she moved to Paris, where she made a living as a singer on the street
and in cafes.

In 1935 she was discovered by the owner of a cabaret who named her Môme Piaf (the
little sparrow). At 16 she becomes pregnant and she has a girl who dies at two years of
meningitis.ar texto
