Ping is a computer network administration utility used to test the reachability of a

host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for
messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer.

Ping operates by sending Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo

request packets to the target host and waiting for an ICMP response. In the process it
measures the time from transmission to reception ( round-trip time ) and records any
packet loss. The results of the test are printed in form of a statistical summary of the
response packets received, including the minimum, maximum, and the mean round-trip
times, and sometimes the standard deviation of the mean.

Here’s how to do it.

1. Make sure you are on the same network where the AGC is connected.
2. Check the IP of your AGC by using the JUMP menu “9000”. This will display the
Deif version and the IP of your AGC.

3. Click on the start menu, this is found on the lower left of your monitor.

4. The figure 1 should appear, then click on the RUN command.

5. On figure 2 type “cmd” and press “OK” when done.

7. Type “ping 192.168.20.42” (see Figure 4) where in this case the IP of the AGC is
192.168.20.42. Then press the “ENTER” key of your keyboard.

8. After pressing the ENTER key Figure 5 should appear, this means your AGC can
communicate to your PC or the Ethernet connection is working properly.

communicate to your PC or the Ethernet connection is not working properly.

Check the following:

1. RJ45/Ethernet connector is properly inserted to the HUB/Switch or in to the AGC

RJ45/Ethernet port.
2. RJ45/Ethernet connector pin configuration.
3. Continuity of the UTP/Ethernet cable.
4. Hub/Switch is turned on or working properly.
