• Information and Communication Technology (ICT) deals with the use of different

communication technologies such as mobile phones, telephone, internet, etc. to


locate, save, send, and edit information. Having a unified way to communicate is one
of the goals of ICT. In terms of economics, ICT has saved companies a lot of
resources (time and money).
• Information and Communication Technology (ICT) generally refers to all devices,
networking components, applications, and systems that facilitate interaction with
the digital world.

• According to the 2013 edition of Measuring of Information Society by the
International Telecommunication Union, there are 106.8 cellphones per 100 Filipino
in the year of 2012. That would mean that for every 100 Filipinos you meet, there is
a high chance that they have a cellphone.

the total employment population. Example: BPO
• Time Magazine’s “The Selfies Cities around the World” 2013 place two cities from

• THE INTERNET
• Is a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication
facilities, consisting of interconnect networks using standardized communication
protocols.
• Sometimes called simply “the Net”.
• WORLD WIDE WEB
• An information system on the Internet that allows documents to be connected to
other documents by hypertext links, enabling the user to search for information by
moving from once document to another.
• It was invented by Tim Berners Lee year 1989.
• WEB PAGE
• A hypertext document connected to the World Wide Web.
• It is a collection of information provided by a website and displayed to a user in a
web browser.
• Examples: Html, ASP, Php, Js, etc. file extensions
EVOLUTION OF THE WEB

Web 1.0 - Static webpage


It is the first version of Web Page that has a characteristic “Static” (also known as flat page or
stationary page) in the sense that the page cannot be manipulated by the user.
It was first implementation of the web and it lasted from 1989 to 2005.

Web 2.0 -Dynamic


The term was invented by Darcy DiNucci in 1999.
The evolution of Web 2.0 is by adding dynamic web pages, the user is able to see a website
differently. Examples social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services
and web applications.

Web 2.0 - Dynamic


It allow users to interact with the page: instead of just reading a page, the user may able to
comment or create user account. Most websites that we visit today are Web 2.0.

Web 3.0 – The Intelligent Web


A framework that allows data to be shared and reused across application, enterprise, and
community.
With Web 3.0, information is more connected thanks to semantic metadata. As a result, the
user experience evolves to another level of connectivity that leverages all the available
information. Content is accessible by multiple applications, every device is connected to the
web, the services can be used everywhere.

Using several technologies to accomplish a task conveniently.
It is the synergy of technological advancement to work on common goal or task.

Social Media
A website, application or online channel that enables web users to create, co-create, discuss,
modify, and exchange user-generated content. Internet users spend most of their time in social
media sites that lead to advertisers to promote their product.
