IV. GENERALIZATION

In germinating seeds there are different methods of germination test. These are Ragdoll
method which the seeds are to be placed in a piece of cloth. Seed box is a method that the seeds
are place in a box with a soil medium. Petri dish or filter paper is done using petri dish by
placing wet filter paper and Tetrazolium test, the seeds are soaked in triphenyl tetrazolium
chloride. The viable living tissue will turn in color due to the formation of the insoluble
compound called formazan.

A farmer apply different methods in germinating seeds in planting their crops to ensure
that there is a good variety of seeds before they plant.

Solve the following problem.


A farmer bought mungbean seeds and sow 100 seeds in the seedbox. After 4 days he
found out that only 87 seeds germinated. What is the percentage germination of the
seeds?
