Play Futsal: The Court
Play Futsal: The Court
Futsal is the official five a side indoor soccer game, recognised by FIFA.
Since world famous soccer players like Pele, Zico, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho attribute their highly
developed soccer skills to playing Futsal during their youth the sport is experiencing
phenomenal growth around the world and has overtaken many other sports in popularity.
In Australia more and more soccer players, coaches, clubs and associations discover the unique
and positive qualities of Futsal. At first the sport took of to create a head start for young players
in soccer.
The court
Everyday Futsal is played on courts that are the size of a basketball court, with a firm, flat
surface. With a strain on suitable indoor courts it can at grassroots level be played outdoors as
well. Synthetic or grass pitches are considered an acceptable alternative. The court has a
touchline all around.
Technical skills
Close ball control, if you have the ball under control all other things become easier. Otherwise
you lose valuable time in a game, where every split second can make a difference.
A Futsal ball is different from a soccer ball. It is smaller, heavier and has a low rebound.
Those qualities make it easier for individuals to increase their close ball control and practise
moves and passes.
Each team has 5 players on the small court. It means that you have 2 players on you all the
time, so you have to have great ball control. It also means that a player has more touches and is
forced to develop all kind of different moves and passes.
The fact that the court is bounded by a touchline all around means that players need skill to
keep the ball in the play.
Movement skills
In Futsal you can show your flair. Futsal has many moves. Some players became famous for
them. The more experienced a player becomes the more these moves turn into fast reflexes.
The game also requires multi directional movement as front to back and side to side and sport
specific moves like how to touch the ball and quick movements in short steps.
Speed
Speed is a trainable quality. Playing Futsal helps develop explosive, instinctive movements. If
you are faster you are better.
Team work
Working together as a team is crucial in Futsal. There is a constant transition for players,
changing from defence to attack. The fast pace of the game and the constant transitions gives
the player more spatial and game awareness.
Here comes the ball..........What do I do?
Confidence
Playing Futsal builds confidence in young players. When skills and speed grows in players they
develop more guts and a willingness to fight and dominate the game.
With that entire technical thing, one thing in common with the entire player despite all their
position, speeds ability.
With high speed ability you will give an impact in the futsal game and you will be noticed.
This is vital and very common in futsal, all the player need to have it to be good.
The speed is in all aspect, in defence, control ball, running with the ball, and turning fast.
So drills for speed are important. Not to forget about core training, because our body is
integrated.
Use all your body part when you are training, this will help you increase speed in futsal.
