Function Graph
3
f ( x )=5 x

f ( x )=−2 x 3

3
f ( x )=1 /2 x
f ( x )=−5/ 8 x3

3
f ( x )=20 x

Write a concluding statement for the role of the parameter 'a':

The role of 'a' determines the movement of the function. For example, in f ( x )=−2 x 3; the function
flipped in the y axis from its origin in the 1 st quadrant to the 2nd quadrant. When the 'a' value
is a fraction, the shape of the function completely changes with its line curving within the
same quadrant it started in. When the fraction is negative, the function is switched to the
opposite quadrant. Lastly, when the value of 'a' is larger, the function becomes narrow. In
conclusion, the 'a' value makes the graph wider, narrower, or to create a reflection.

1. f ( x )=¿ (x-2) 3

1. f ( x )=¿ (x+1)3

2. f ( x )=¿ (x-4)3+6

3. f ( x )=¿ (x+3)3-2
4. f ( x )=¿ (x-1)3-3

Write a concluding statement for the role of the parameter 'c' and 'd':

The purpose of 'c' and 'd' is to move the function around the grid. The value of 'd' moves the function
left and right; when the 'd' is positive, it moves to the right, and when it is negative, it moves to the left.
Whereas the value of 'c' moves the function up and down the grid; when 'c' is positive, it moves up, and
when it is negative, it moves down. When there is no value of 'c,' the function stays on the x-axis at 0.
