Position Paper: The Role and Functions of a School Alumni,

Graduate and Employability Unit in the School

School Alumni, Graduate and Employability unit that we usually encounter when
we are in the university or any higher education that we can consider as the
foundation of the school. Something that we can hear every time as one of the
important person in the school. The success of the activities that the higher education
produces came from alumni and graduates. How can we relate this alumni, graduate
and employability units in a success of the university, unlike any institutions if there
are any? But let’s discuss first their role and functions before I state my position in
this topic and why I supported it between any other circumstances.

In a school it produces a quality education for everyone, that later on produces

different graduates that became the solution for the school financial support and
reputation itself. Alumni can help schools sustain through their donations and
voluntary help, and can also be helpful in providing valuable financial, intellectual
and human resource (Tulankar and Grampurohit, 2020). Support from alumni’s is
something that help in providing scholarships for student who are in needs. This
situation is something that I am proud of, as the alumni provided the Project Tanglaw
for the students that is lack in financial and I am one of the beneficiaries of this
project. They provided a strong support system for everyone without anything in
return. Alumni, graduates are affiliated in employability units as it connects and
possesses a foundation for the higher placement of the job of the students who are a
fresh graduates. According to the article of Bishop (2020), entitled “Why Alumni are
Important for Higher Ed Institutions”, stated that alumni is crucial and have a valuable
roles for the higher ed institutions. Having an affiliated alumni and graduates in
higher ed makes way for the undergraduate student get what they are need like
internships and so as said. My position in this topic between important and
unimportant, I will choose to stand on how the topic is so important not only for the
students, teachers, faculty and staffs but also the higher institution to lessen burden of
financial stability.

As alumni association provided a connections of the students and educational

institutions while benefited both in common. There are also different skills involved
as everyone from the said associations is graduate from different fields that can
provide information and can support in internal and external context of higher ed. In
context, I am also great to have alumni as a moral support from every student in
school as anyone can get benefits in their projects. Imagine having someone in your
back to provide needs is what I am explaining of. The role and functions of school
alumni, graduates and employability have a great impact in the schools, as it promotes
the students to explore the heart of gratitude. Therefore, as we have this affiliated
institutions in our school we should be grateful and express our thanksgiving. They
are important, they are what we needed and they should be honored.
