1 Technical Response
1.1 Solution Overview

From studying the provided information, J&C Joel understand the requirement for the Divider
Wall system. The proposal comprises the following in accordance with the provided
information.

The following items are proposed as per the documents above:

- Divider wall lineshafts and panels

1.2 Divider wall lineshafts and panels
Two (2) 7kN Lineshaft winches are proposed within the auditorium to suspend curved panels
to be positioned at various heights. The winches have the following characteristics.

SWL Speed Travel No. of Encoder Load

(kg) (m/s) (m) drops Cell
700 0.1 8.0 9 NO YES

The winch includes the following items:

- Adjustable bar wire rope terminations using wedge sockets and shackles

Two (2) curved divider wall panels are constructed from an aluminium frame and comprise
the following specifications:
- 24.6m arc length
- 3.0m height
- ~56mm depth (depth comprises)
- 40mm aluminum frame
- Foam and timber strips surrounding the perimeter frame

- 5mm thick Molton & Coliseum Velvet fabric to the front of panel only
- Side nylon bar guide to each panel travels within a Unistrut-type guide separator. This
ensures the panels travel at a constant separated distance and prevents clashes.

No idler or guide wheels and tracks have been allowed for within the building walls for panel
vertical guidance.

*N.B. there is currently no allowance for internal acoustic foams for the
panels*

1.3 Preliminaries, Installation and Logistics

PRELIMINARIES

We will provide full design drawings (can be in SolidWorks and/or dwg, stp and ifc format as
well as PDF but BIM design not allowed for) including GA layouts and Shop Drawings, for
which we will require detailed As-Built construction drawings from the Main Contractor.

Project Management is provided throughout the Design, Manufacturing and Installation

stages.

Two (2) 4-day visits to site are included as a separate price within the BOQ.
Travel expenses included.
Accommodation and local travel expenses are expected to be provided by MTJ.

Training, As-Built Drawings and an O&M Manual are included.

INSTALLATION

A team of two (2) experienced J&C Joel mechanical & electrical installation engineers will
lead teams during the installation period (estimated 3 weeks).

For the test-and-commission of the Control system, the appointed Control supplier will be on
site for a period of one (1) week to provide a satisfactory system and ensure all works
correctly.

General travel expenses included.

Accommodation and local travel expenses are included.

Load test is excluded for all systems as it is expected to be performed by a local

organisation.

LOGISTICS

Standard sea-freight carriage of all materials to port only.

Lineshaft
the inspiration behind the performance

Applications:
• Multiple hoists, capacities, speeds and drop line choice
to suit your needs
• Two sets of limits – end of travel and ultimate safety limits
• Dual brakes
• High quality components and reliable operation
• CE marked
• Quality and operationally checked by our specialist team
of engineers
• Horizontally mountable on grid

Optional Extras:
• Slack rope detection
• Load monitoring via load cells
• Positional feedback via absolute or incremental encoders

Overview

J&C Joel line shaft hoist, re-imagined to reduce size,

weight and cost. Our lineshaft hoists offer a wide range
of speeds and capacities, making them versatile and
excellent choices for retrofits in older buildings due to
no lateral loading being applied to the existing structure.
Among its many uses are lighting bars, scenery and
curtains, and front-of-house lighting sets.
