Purpose of the course


The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills for conducting human
resource management functions in an organization.
Expected Learning Outcomes of the Course
By the end of the course the student should be able to:
Explain the role and functions of HRM
Discuss the concepts of Human resource planning and workforce planning in an
organization
 Evaluate the process of Human resource recruitment and selection in organizations
 Discuss the meaning and process of Job analysis and job redesign
 Discuss different types of Human resource training and development in work place
 Explain the factors that lead into good industrial relations in work place
 Evaluate emerging issues in HRM

Functions of human resources management; Human resources planning; Job analysis and job design;
Recruitment and selection of human resources; Orientation of new staff; Training and development;
Performance management; Compensation management; Occupational health and safety; Employee/
