    Statement regarding student death

    NIU is deeply saddened to confirm that a student died on campus this morning after likely
    experiencing a medical crisis. NIU Police do not suspect any foul play in the matter. The
    university has been in touch with the student’s family to offer our condolences and support.
    The university is also in process of reaching out to and supporting the student’s faculty, classes
    and friends.

    The loss of a fellow student and Huskie is heartbreaking and the university encourages students
    to reach out to NIU Counseling or Consultation Services and employees to utilize the Employee
    Assistance Program for any support needed during this time.
