To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my interest in becoming an Associate Athletic Trainer with involvement as a

clinical preceptor or instructor in the Athletic Training program. As Athletic Training transfers from a
Bachelor's to Master's degree, the curriculum has increased in depth of knowledge. Through
involving preceptors in the education, students will be able to take classroom lessons and apply
them in the clinical setting. be My experience at the Division I level has helped me understand where
there is room for growth in educating Athletic Training students. Through my knowledge of and
practice in Athletic Training programs, I am confident my skill set will complement and enhance your
current staff.

In my time at Northern Arizona, I have had the pleasure of working with Women's Soccer, Men's and
Women's Tennis, and Women's Swim and Dive. Each team has required a different type of care and I
have been able to develop into a versatile Athletic Trainer for any given situation. Athletic Trainers are
often the conduit of communication between multiple athletic departments. Caring for a variety of
teams has pushed me to understand the inner workings of the athletic department so that athlete
support comes from all directions. Through positive relationships between coaches, support staff,
and myself, we have created teams that possess strong core values of unity and trust. I recognize
these relationships in being the foundation to implementing a multidisciplinary medical approach.

In pursuing a Master's in Education, I have discovered a passion to teach students the fundamentals
of being a well-rounded athletic trainer. I have been fortunate enough to operate as a clinical
preceptor to both Master and Bachelor level students and provide them with opportunities to
develop into medically sound practitioners. As a mentor, I hope to influence those I interact with to
approach all situations with positivity, empathy, and a willingness to help.

Functioning as an Athletic Trainer means more to me than only aiding competing athletes—it means
elevating each individual I encounter to a level of excellence. Through involvement in the education
program, I am able to create capable future Athletic Trainers while fulfilling my passion of helping
student athletes. Your university is an environment where I can fulfill my duties to the highest
standard. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing how I can be an asset to your current
staff.

Sincerely,

Carmen E. Hewlett ATC
