Socio Essay 1
In the Caribbean and other developing economies, they are experiencing rapid rates
of social development. In the case of Trinidad & Tobago, with its rising
population,
which is going through a state of social development, measures must be put in place
in order to curb this phenomenon. However, there are social services, namely those
of birth control and of food security, that are of utmost importance in T&T.
Secondly, with reference to the graph, food security as a social service may be
required in Trinidad & Tobago. Food insecurity is an issue that plagues a large
percentage
of individuals who are more often than not impoverished. According the graph, the
percentages of adults between the ages 20-49 is a large percentage. With respect to
Consequently, in Trinidad & Tobago, social develoment has begun to change our
society. In a society like that of T&T, the concepts of food security and birth
control as social services
are extremely important when trying to improve your country. In Malthusian Theory,
it is said that a population will continue to rise and become too large for their
supply
of food, this is where the social service of food security arrives, because it is
this concept that lets society have a sense of security that will let them survive.
In Trinidad,
this theory of growth is important when comparing Trinidad's relatively low
population to its resources. With respect to birth control as a social service,
neo-malthusian theory,
which states that contraception is key to keeping populations in check and reduce
economic growth, is an important factor when considering social development in
developing economies.
In Trinidad, this theory is important when considering that individuals, especially
teens, are quickly having children that they cannot support and as such, puts a
strain on a nations'
economy to support this young generation which, according to the graph, was the
largest single generation. Moreover, Trinidad does need this social service to curb
the rising population as
resources are finite.
In conclusion, developing economies like Trinidad need social services like Food
Security and Birth Control in order to keep improving when considering that the
steady growth of
populations and slow development are tantamount to becoming fully-developed
nations.
