Group Activity 1:
Models of Communication
The boss of the company has a confidential meeting with the manager of
their company about the increase and decrease in sales of their company.
The Boss represents the sender and encoder of the message, while the
Manager is the receiver as well as the decoder. The face-to-face confidential
meeting is represented as "channel" or "noise." Suddenly, there was a staff
member listening to their conversation and spreading gossip about it to his
co-workers. The staff also becomes the receiver and decoder for listening to
the discussion as well as the transmitter or encoder for disseminating that
information to their co-workers. As a result, his coworkers' feedback to the
issue were mixed, as their boss soon discovered or will discover.
