Reflective analysis of the student themselves as a learner

Pylypyshyn Mariia COAM-23

I can surely say, that I am visual type of learner. Who is a visual learner? It
is someone who is often called spatial learners and, unsurprisingly, learn
and remember best through visual communication. This means that using a
whiteboard, projecting maps and images, or showing photos work best.
To begin with, I want to say that when I was at the beginning school I
didn’t understand why it was so difficult to me to learn some information
when someone is speaking. Besides, it was a daunting task for me to do
some exercises which include listening. And at the same time I could
easily do such tasks as reading or to learn information when I could see it
and of course I was astonished with books that have pictures
Then teacher gave us a test which would show us what a type of learner
we are. This test showed me that I am a visual learner. That’s why seeing
something helps me remember and learn something easily that listening
something. Since I had found out about my type of learner, I know what
to do in order to remember something. I need to use calendar or a print out
what needs to be done. I use this like a checklist.
Now I am a student and I have my learner strategy for studying. For
example, it can me presentations which I do for better understanding or
some pictures essays and simulations. I can use my learning style to my
advantage by researching information about me assignments and reading
the content provided.
To summarize I want to say that I am one of the 65% of visual learners.
And I prefer to see what I am learning rather than listening to it. Also I am
sure that majority of students are a visual learners and I as a future teacher
will try to use different ways to teach such students.
