Robinson Fans has been manufacturing high-quality fans and blowers since 1892. So naturally, we know a thing or two about
the critical components. When performance and reliability demands increase, the need for a robust bearing increases as well.
That’s why we created Robinson BLO Bearings for high-speed fan applications.

THE APPLICATION:
The most common issue that our customers face is bearing failure due to excessive vibration and temperature. The typical
arrangement is two independent pillow block ball bearings.
While this arrangement has shown to be satisfactory in some cases, history has
proven it to be very sensitive. Over time, unexpected shutdowns and recurring
maintenance have resulted in loss of time and production. Short-term fixes have
been applied (for example, the fan drive base in the photo to the left was filled
with concrete), however they do not provide a long-term solution.
So what can be done to modify these fans for improved reliability? Robinson
Fans has monitored this issue for years and can offer a retrofit package
that eliminates the excessive sensitivity and will result in long-term, reliable
operation of these critical fans.

The core of this kit is the new Robinson BLO Bearings.

BLO BEARING FEATURES:

• Two-bearing unit ensures precision alignment of bearing inserts
• Includes two single-row, deep groove ball bearings (Alternate
bearing combinations available upon request.)
• Higher speed capabilities than separate pillow block housings
• Ideal for fans and other overhung rotating equipment
• Heavy cast iron construction
• Oil lubrication
• Shaft size ranges from 65 mm to 100 mm
• Complete BLO line acquired from Dodge/Baldor/ABB
• Manufactured in the USA

THE WHEEL:
Because the fan is subjected to corrosive gases, Robinson upgrades the wheel material from the usual carbon steel. With the
upgrade in material, corrosion-related vibration problems are eliminated. This also allows for idle fan isolation, which keeps from
over-temping idle fan bearings and reduces maintenance from frequent cleaning, balancing and cycling of fans.

FLOATING TWO PIECE SHAFT SEAL:

In order to restrict the hot process gas from heating the bearing, the shaft seal has been improved to provide extended life over
standard one piece gasket seals.
