Automatic Healing & Failover

When configured in high availability mode, we’ll provision a primary and secondary node in
synchronous replication on different hypervisors. If a node is unavailable, the standby node
becomes active in a few seconds while the failing node is replaced and reconfigured
automatically.

Guaranteed performances

Built on top of our Development and General Purpose instances, we use the instance’s local
volume to guarantee high-performance disk access. General Purpose instances are recommended
for critical and resource-intensive databases.

Hot scaling

Duplicate or increase your Database instances’ size on the fly from Scaleway console to speed
up your data processing and allocate more space. Our Databases are powered by a wide range of
instances, so you can find the right mix of vCPU power, RAM and storage capacity. Thanks to
integration with Block Storage, you can scale up to 10TB with no downtime or interruption,
without the need to upgrade the node type.

High availability

A database instance configured in high availability (H.A.) mode is always provisioned on two
nodes: a primary node and a secondary node in synchronous replication, also called a standby
node. We also ensure that your instances run on different hypervisors. If the primary node is no
longer operational, the secondary node will take over. Your data is redundant and its integrity is
therefore guaranteed.

Automatic backups
Your backups & snapshots are automatically insured and are customizable from the Scaleway
console. You can manage their frequency and retention time. You can also deactivate or
reactivate the automation. With the Block Storage option, you can create snapshots of your
instance in a matter of seconds whatever the size of the volume, allowing you to recover a
previous state of your data in case of any data alteration due to incorrect manipulations.
Snapshots are also useful for creating a copy of the data for testing and avoiding any
interruptions to the main database. Your backups and snapshots are compressed and charged at
€0.03/GB/month.
