2) ASSIGNMENT 2: LAB WORK AND REPORT (30%)

 Individual

 You can choose different type of athletes based on this category:


 Long term low intensity (endurance)
 Short term high intensity (burst and power)
 Combined power and endurance sports (intermittent)

 Conduct your interview with the athlete of your choice.


 The sport he/she participates in.
 How long practices/training sessions and games typically last
 Dietary intake for 1 day during training (use food diary)
 Any supplement?
 The athlete’s approximate weight, height, age
 Include the calculation for Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) using the
client’s database. From this information, you will extract 1 specific meal for
training either lunch or dinner.
 Plan an ideal diet for your client in preparation for the training session. You should
consider the following:

 Caloric content 800-1000 kcal per serving.


 Why do you choose the ingredients for the meal?
 The breakdown of the calories for CHO, Fat and Protein for the meal.

 A written report must be submitted no later than week 14. (20%)

1) Description of the sport

2) Client description
a. Name, age, height, BMI)
b. Training schedule
c. Nutrition Screening form; 1 day dietary record from client. Comment on
client’s dietary intake looking at what nutrients are adequate, deficient, and
excessive

3) Calculation of EER

4) Suggested meal for one day containing calories equivalent to EER

5) Report on one specific meal (lunch or dinner)


 Provide the breakdown of the calories for CHO, Fat and Protein for the meal.
 Justify the allocation of calories for each of the macronutrient of the meal based
on established recommendation (ACSM or Malaysian RNI etc) for each sport
category. Please provide necessary references for your justification.
 Justify the choice of the ingredients used for the meal
 Photo of the prepared meal
