Artificial Intelligence
Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is a multidisciplinary field
whose goal is to automate activities that presently require
human intelligence. Recent successes in A.I. include
computerized medical diagnosticians and systems that
automatically customize hardware to particular user
requirements. ... Generally, A.I.

Why AI?
According to Dr. Kai-Fu Lee, working as venture capitalist
in AI ORACLE states

“[AI] is going to change the world more than anything in

the history of mankind. More than electricity”

They made this statement in 2018 while addressing a press

conference. Just like invention of “Electricity” changed the race
of the world, AI will definitely change the future of new
generation.
What is artificial intelligence?
Artificial intelligence leverages computers and machines
to mimic the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
of the human mind.

While a number of definitions of artificial intelligence

(AI) have surfaced over the last few decades, John McCarthy in
the year 1950 offers the following definition “It is the science
and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially
intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task
of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI
does not have to confine itself to methods that are
biologically observable."

In general Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a

computer or a robot controlled by a computer to do tasks
that are usually done by humans because they require
human intelligence and discernment. Although there are
no AIs that can perform the wide variety of tasks an
ordinary human can do, some AIs can match humans in
specific tasks.
Types of AI

Weak AI— also called Narrow AI or Artificial Narrow

Intelligence (ANI) — is AI trained and focused to perform
specific tasks. Weak AI drives most of the AI that
surrounds us today. ‘Narrow’ might be a more accurate
descriptor for this type of AI as it is anything but weak; it
enables some very robust applications, such as Apple's
Siri, Amazon's Alexa, IBM Watson, and autonomous
vehicles.

Strong AI - is made up of Artificial General Intelligence

(AGI) and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). Artificial
general intelligence (AGI), or general AI, is a theoretical
form of AI where a machine would have an intelligence
equaled to humans; it would have a self-aware
consciousness that has the ability to solve problems,
learn, and plan for the future. Artificial Super Intelligence
(ASI)—also known as super intelligence—would surpass
the intelligence and ability of the human brain. While
strong AI is still entirely theoretical with no practical
examples in use today, that doesn't mean AI researchers
aren't also exploring its development. In the meantime,
the best examples of ASI might be from science fiction,
such as HAL, the superhuman, rogue computer assistant
in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Deep Learning vs. Machine Learning

Since deep learning and machine learning

Tend to be used interchangeably; it’s worth noting the
nuances between the two. As mentioned above, both
deep learning and machine learning are sub-fields of
artificial intelligence, and deep learning is actually a sub-
field of machine learning.

Deep learning is actually comprised of neural networks.

“Deep” in deep learning refers to a neural network
comprised of more than three layers—which would be
inclusive of the inputs and the output—can be
considered a deep learning algorithm.
Applications of AI

There are numerous, real-world applications of AI systems

today. Below are some of the most common examples:

1. Speech Recognition:  It is also known as automatic speech

recognition (ASR), computer speech recognition, or
speech-to-text, and it is a capability which uses natural
language processing (NLP) to process human speech into a
written format. Many mobile devices incorporate speech
recognition into their systems to conduct voice search—
e.g. Siri, Cortana, Google Search, etc.

2. Customer Service:  Online chatbots are replacing human

agents along the customer journey. Examples include
messaging bots on e-commerce sites with virtual agents
like Flipkart and messaging apps, such as Facebook
Messenger.

3. Automated stock trading:  Designed to optimize stock

portfolios, AI-driven high-frequency trading platforms
make thousands or even millions of trades per day without
human intervention.

Advantages of AI
1. Reduction in Human Error

In Weather Forecasting using AI they have reduced the

majority of human error.

2. Takes risks instead of Humans

This is one of the biggest advantages of Artificial intelligence.

We can overcome many risky limitations of humans by
developing an AI Robot which in turn can do the risky things for
us.
3. Available 24x7

Humans can work in limited time frame like 6-8 hours but AI
powered robots, bots can continue their work 24x7 non-stops

4. Helping in Repetitive Jobs

In banks, we often see much verification of documents to get

a loan which is a repetitive task for the owner of the bank.
Using AI Cognitive Automation the owner can speed up the
process of verifying the documents by which both the
customers and the owner will be benefited.
Some other features of AI

5. Digital Assistance
6. Faster Decisions

Disadvantages of AI
As every bright side has a darker version in it. Artificial
Intelligence also has some disadvantages. Let’s see some of them

1) High Costs of Creation:

As AI is updating every day the hardware and software need to get

updated with time to meet the latest requirements. Machines need
repairing and maintenance which need plenty of costs. Its creation
requires huge costs as they are very complex machines.

2) Making Humans Lazy:

AI is making humans lazy with its applications automating the

majority of the work. Humans tend to get addicted to these
inventions which can cause a problem to future generations.

3) Unemployment:

As AI is replacing the majority of the repetitive tasks and other

works with robots, human interference is becoming less which will
cause a major problem in the employment standards. Every
organization is looking to replace the minimum qualified
individuals with AI robots which can do similar work with more
efficiency.

4) No Emotions:

There is no doubt that machines are much better when it comes to

working efficiently but they cannot replace the human connection
that makes the team. Machines cannot develop a bond with
humans which is an essential attribute when comes to Team
Management.

5) Lacking Out of Box Thinking:

Machines can perform only those tasks which they are designed or
programmed to do, anything out of that they tend to crash or give
irrelevant outputs which could be a major backdrop.
SUMMARY

The concluding remark

These are some advantages and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence.

Every new invention or breakthrough will have both, but we as humans
need to take care of that and use the positive sides of the invention to
create a better world. Artificial intelligence has massive potential
advantages. The key for humans will ensure the “rise of the robots”
doesn’t get out of hand. Some people also say that Artificial intelligence
can destroy human civilization if it goes into the wrong hands. But still,
none of the AI applications made at that scale that can destroy or
enslave humanity.

As we learnt that every new inventions has dark side but we

should focus on handling the positive side that only benefit
the Human World
