Main Under the authority of the Chief of Section, and in regular collaboration with the Career Development Officer, the incumbent of
responsibilities the post will provide human resources assistance, analysis and recommendation to enhance the career and training
programmes and communications developed and offered throughout the organization (HQ/Field/Institutes). In particular, the
incumbent shall:

• Support the coordination, review, development, delivery and adaptation of bilingual courses, workshops and learning
materials to meet UNESCO staff needs (Headquarters and Field) on career development and performance management;
Research, identify and discuss ways to strengthen the performance management culture at UNESCO, including the
development of bilingual guidance materials.
• Support the implementation and promotion of middle management and leadership assessment and development
programmes.
• Ensure provision and guidance, advice and support to managers and staff on career and performance management issues;
• Follow-up regularly aspects of the HR Strategy related to career-development, such as career support services, coaching,
assessment tools and analyse progress and make recommendations.
• Draft and edit materials and documents; assist in the procurement process for learning and career development projects;
support work on UN Common System issues, facilitate communication efforts on career/performance management aspects
(catalogue, evaluations as well communications strategy (including drafting web content); Monitor programmes, reporting,
audits and evaluations, reviewing feedback and developing recommendations for changes to materials.

Profile ƒ University degree (preferably a Master’s or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business and/or Public Administration,
Psychology, Social and Human Sciences or related fields. Certificates or specializations attesting knowledge in career
development are desired.
ƒ At least two to fours years’ professional experience in the field of human resources management, acquired preferably in an
international organization.
ƒ Theoretical and practical knowledge of human resources.
ƒ Excellent analytical skills.
ƒ Practical knowledge of project management.
ƒ Good communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, orally and in writing.
ƒ Ability to work in a team and to maintain effective working relationships with people of different nationalities and cultural
backgrounds.
ƒ Excellent knowledge of English or French; a good knowledge of the other language would be an asset.
A written test may be used in the evaluation of candidates.
Conditions of UNESCO’s salaries are calculated in US dollars. They consist of a basic salary and a post adjustment which reflects the cost of
employment living in a particular duty station and exchange rates. For this post, the annual remuneration in local currency will start  from
around 47,100 euros (44,400 euros if without dependants) for P-1 and from around 59,500 euros (55,800 euros if without
dependants) for P-2, exempt from income tax. In addition, UNESCO offers an attractive benefits package including 30 days
annual vacation, home travel, education grant for dependant children, pension plan and medical insurance. The initial
appointment, which is for 2 years, includes a probationary period of 12 months, and is renewable, subject to satisfactory
service. Worldwide mobility is required as staff members have to serve in other duty stations according to UNESCO’s
geographical mobility policy. UNESCO is a non-smoking Organization.
