Summary

This tech note details how to add MS DHCP option tag 192.

Audience

Customers, 1st and 2nd Level Support, and Systems Engineering

Affected Products

WDM 4.8 and Wyse ThinOS based devices.

Requirements/Issues

This Tech note only supports Microsoft DHCP Service on Windows 2003 Server or
Windows 2008 Server.

To add Option Tag 192

1. Open DHCP Manager.

2. Highlight Major Node (server defined for the subnet to be used)

3. Select Action > Set Predefined Options

4. Select ADD

5. Complete the dialog box as follows:

In this field . . . Do this . . .


Name Type a descriptive name for the WDM Web Server Port
Data Type Select Data Type from drop down menu
Array Select this option
Code (i.e. Byte) Type in the option tag
Description (optional) Type a brief description to identify the Web Server Port.

6. Select OK.

7. Expand Scope

8. Right-click Scope options and select Configure options

9. Select Available Option = 192 WDM Web Server Port

10. Click Add

11. Click Apply

12. Click OK

NOTE: The value of this option tag represents the same information as option tag 187.
The difference is that Wyse ThinOS interprets the value of this option tag in correct
order (for example, the value of 0x0050 is interpreted as 0x0050). If the DHCP server
provides both option tag 192 and 187, option tag 192 takes precedence.
