NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF SEMINAR WORSKSHOP ON

PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID

November 09-12, 2021

The Don Servillano Platon Memorial National High School through the initiative of the office
of the SHS-Guidance Counselor Designate, Marie Ann P. Dador with the collaboration of Assistant
Principal for operation, Aldrin M. Obias conducted a seminar workshop on Psychological First Aid
which aims to provide Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services for the teaching and non-
teaching personnel amidst the impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic, particularly provide participants
with better understanding of common reaction to stressful events and identify support and coping
efforts and strengths.
The said activity was conducted into four days, divided into two batch for all the school
personnel. The first batch was attended by the Grade 7, 8, Non-advisers and non-Teaching personnel.
The second batch was also attended by the Grade 9,10,11, 12 advisers.
On the first two days of said activity, it was started with an Opening Preliminaries, the
Philippine National Anthem who was conducted by Mr. Leonel A. Clado, immediately followed by
the Opening Prayer by Ms. Eva S. Bandin, The JHS Guidance Counselor Designate. A warm opening
remarks was given by Mr. Rolando L. Narbato, Jr., the assistant principal, after which a message was
delivered by the school principal who challenged the participants to actively joined and participate
said event. An introduction of the speakers was given by Mr. Allan B. Monforte, followed by the
overview of the seminar workshop.
After the opening preliminaries, the seminar workshop on PFA was already started with the
Module 1: Validating Feelings and Normalizing Reaction by the first speaker, Marvin R. Castillo of
Palangon High School, Libmanan District. In the afternoon, the second speake was Mr. Rico V.
Villanueva of Dr. Lorenzo P. Ziga MNHS- Pasacao District who tackled about Calming Down and
Managing One’s emotion and thoughts thoroughly.
On the second day of the first batch, The Management of Learning was initiated by TLE
Department, headed by the hardworking head teacher Ms. Hayna L. Atutubo . The third speaker was
Mr. Nichols B. Rodillas from Baao National High School who discussed the module 3: Identifying
and addressing Needs, and followed by the last speaker who was Mr. Alberto Z. Laborte, Jr. from
Mambulo Nuevo High School, Libmanan, tasked to explained the last module, the Sources of
Strength.
The two-day activity ended with a simulation with an intense participation of the participants
all trough out the two days for the first batch of participants.
For the third day which was intended for the second batch of the school personnel to attend
the Seminar workshop, was also started with opening preliminaries, the Philippine National Anthem
was conducted by Ms. Julie Ann Verdejo and immediately followed by an Opening prayer led by Ms.
Jaye Eileen Dela Torre, the opening remarks was given by Mr. Rolando L. Narbato, who emphasized
the importance the Psychological First Aid to everyone especially at this moment of time. A very
remarkable short message was given by Mr. Guillermo C. Ortua, Jr., who shared his own story as a
Psychosocial First Aid Provider.
The modules then were discussed thoroughly with the same speakers and activities given.
Also, an intense participation of the participants most especially during the group activity were
observed. A Simulation was presented with the given scenarios per group as part of the module
activity.
 The said activity was ended with a short closing program with the challenge given and
acceptance as the highlight together with the awarding of certificates and token to the competent
speakers.
Another successful seminar workshop was realized with the cooperation of the committees
involved and the intensified participation of the school personnel.
