Suntrust Properties, Inc. (SPI) is a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary of Megaworld Corporation, a company
under the umbrella of Alliance Global Inc.

Since its inception on November 04, 1997, SPI has created numerous self-sustaining residential communities
in Dasmariñas, General Trias, and Silang Cavite. The company also has condominium developments projects
located at the very heart of Manila. From the time of its incorporation it has led the way in providing affordably
priced homes and master-planned communities to the Filipino market. Combining well-thought-out designs
which focus on space-saving and functionality features, delivering a high standard of comfort and style
customized to the needs of low-to-moderate-income Filipino families, making it today’s developer of choice.

At Suntrust Shanata, you will find peace at the center of the city. As its name suggests, tranquility & order are
just right at your fingertips. With resort-like amenities, Suntrust Shanata will give you more opportunities to
slow down and unwind. Strategically located along Quirino Avenue, it will connect you conveniently to almost
everything that matters.
Suntrust Shanata is a charming community developed by Suntrust Properties, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary
of Megaworld Corporation. This 12-cluster residential project boasts of a modern Asian theme, and features a
total of 1,752 studio to three-bedroom units ranging from 26.7 to 52.8 square meters. A low-density
condominium building, Suntrust Shanata showcases only 16 to 18 units per floor to maximize space and allow
residents to breathe. Typical unit features include ceramic floor tiles, custom-built under-counter kitchen
cabinets, mechanical ventilation for the kitchen and T&B;, individual electric and water sub-meters, single-point
water heater, and provisions for telephone line and CATV. For safety, convenience, and leisure, Suntrust
Shanata also provides amenities that include a 25-meter lap pool, kiddie pool, paved sunbathing deck,
clubhouse, basketball court, fitness gym, children’s playground, Laundromat, convenience store, water station,
function rooms, and a day care center. Suntrust Shanata is situated along Quirino Highway in Quezon City.

This report will provide information whether such installations has a significant effect on the environment within
the vicinity. Specifications of the Air Pollution Source Installation will be presented for this purpose.

LIST OF AIR POLLUTION SOURCE INSTALLATION (APSI) AND CONTROL FACILITY (APCF)
1. Two (2) units 860kW “Mitsubishi” Diesel Generator (Stand-by)
2. Two (2) units 2,000 liters capacity diesel Fuel Day Tank.

Generator Set Operation

A diesel engine is used to run AC generator set. Diesel oil from the fuel day tank is pumped through a fuel filter
panel and distributes the fuel to various cylinders.

The fuel is atomized and mixed with compressed air, the heat generated during the compressed phase ignites
the fuel / air mixture. The combustion of fuel produces combustion gases and heat. The heat rises the
temperature of the combustion gases causing them to expand and forced back the cylinders to their original
position, ready to take in a new mixture of air and fuel thus repeating the process. This motion of cylinders is
translated to a rotary motion of shaft that is connected to the generator which in turn generates require AC
current of the building.

Waste Oil Generation as Pollutants

Waste oil generation is minimal, except during cases of fuel oil spillage during loading of
fuel to the storage tank. This can be avoided by proper handling and are collected / treated by
DENR accredited transporter/treater.

Generator Set Mitigating Measures

Source of air emission are the two (2) stand-by 860kW “Mitsubishi” diesel engine generator set. This unit will
be used in case of power failure. The stand-by generator set is operated and controlled by an Automatic
System Transfer Switch during power failure. Exhaust pipes are directed upward.

They are housed properly in the power room with properly engineered connections. Generator set shall be
properly maintained and serviced to ensure that optimum operating efficiency is attained.

The generator set is fitted with mufflers such a way as not to cause nuisance to the immediate surroundings.
Emissions expected from the operation of power generating set consist of by-products from combustion of
fuel. These are CO2, CO, NOx, SOx, water vapor, soot particles, and traces of unburned hydrocarbon.

Carbon Dioxide and water vapor are both present in pure atmosphere and are not considered air
contaminants. An oxide of Nitrogen is a result mostly of oxidation between nitrogen and oxygen components of
the combustion air which normally contains 79% N2 and 21% O2.

Carbon Monoxide results from incomplete combustion of the carbon content of fuel oil.

The soot particles are mostly solid impurities in the oil such as dirt, etc. and ash component.

Pollution Loading

Considering that the operation of the generator sets are minimal, and only by weekly test run, the following
emission computations are presented as follows:

Computation of Emission: (Based on the Generator Set Technical Data)

E = A x EF (1- ER / 100)
E = Emission Estimation

A = Active Rate (Fuel Consumption)

EF = Emission Factor

ER = Overall Emission reduction efficiency, %

Fuel Diesel

Fuel Consumption 246 liters / hr. at 100% load

Hours of operation Assuming eight (8) hours per month (stand-by use only)

Fuel Consumption:

(246 liters / hour) x (8 hrs / month) x (12 months / year) x 1 gallon / 3.785 liters

= 6,239.36 gallons/year

Table 2. Emission Factor (EF)

Using AP 42 5th Edition Table:

A. PM 13.38 lb / 1000 gallons of fuel

B. NOx 428.31 lb / 1000 gallons of fuel

C. CO 133.8 lb / 1000 gallons of fuel

D. SOx 133.84 lb / 1000 gallons of fuel

E. VOC 12.05 lb / 1000 gallons of fuel

Emission Estimation (E):

A. PM EPM = 6,239.36 gals / year x 13.38 lbs /1000 gals of fuel x 1 MT / 2200 lbs

EPM = 0.0379 tons/year

B. NOx ENOx = 6,239.36 gals / year x 428.31 lbs /1000 gals of fuel x 1 MT / 2200 lbs

ENOx = 1.2147 tons/year

C. CO ECO = 6,239.36 gals / year x 133.8 lbs /1000 gals of fuel x 1 MT / 2200 lbs

ECO = 0.3794 tons/year

D. SOx ESOx = 6,239.36 gals / year x 133.84 lbs /1000 gals of fuel x 1 MT / 2200 lbs

ESOx = 0.3795 tons/year

E. VOC EVOC = 6,239.36 gals / year x 12.05 lbs /1000 gals of fuel x 1 MT / 2200 lbs

EVOC = 0.0341 tons/year

Diesel Fuel Day Tank

Hydrocarbon emission from fuel storage tank is only during loading of fuel into the storage
tank. Emission is expected to be minimal as diesel is not highly volatile. Proper venting is
sufficient to prevent odor nuisance in its immediate environs.
