First sample: accept if X 1 – K a S 1 $ M Reject if X 1 – K r S 1 < M

--```,,,,`,``,,,`,,`,,,`````,,`-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---
Take a second sample if batch is doubtful; evaluate as follows:
Second sample: accept if X t – K t S t $ M Reject if X t – K t S t < M
Definition of symbols:
X 1 is the average of X1 individual values in the first sample;
Ka, Kr and Kt are coefficients of S which is the best estimate of standard deviation and which are used
to determine acceptance or rejection of the batch represented by the sample;
M is the minimum tensile strength value according to Table 7;
X t is the average of Xt individual values in the combined samples;

where:
N1 is the sample size of the first sample;
CX12 is the sum of squares of X1 values;
(CX1)2 is the square of the sum of X1 values;

where:
Nt is the sample size of the combined sample,
CXt2 is the sum of squares of Xt values,
(CXt)2 is the square of the sum of Xt values.
