2 General Description
Multi-Element SDD Fluorescence X-Ray Detector System is a Fluorescent X-Ray detector System
which realizes high sensitivity Fluorescent XSFS method, having high counting ratio and energy
resolution to realize high sensitivity. Used detector XSDD50-04V-AP33-Z100V incorporates 4 elements
of SDD (Silicon Drift Dfetector) for detecting fluorescent X-Ray measurement. Sensing sphere is as
wide as 200mm2 equivalent (50mm2 per 1 element) and possible to wide energy band of 250 eV up to
30 keV by using AP3.3 detector window. Energy resolution is lower than 250 eV@5.9 keV (Peaking
time 0.25 μsec), Counting ratio is more than 900 keps per element.
This do9cument describes about handling of this system and and this detector.

4. Connection
To use the detectgor, power board for detector, data measurement board, power rack, data aqcquisition
PC are required other than this detector. Configuration is as shown below.
After confirming that the power of this detector is off without fail, connect respective cables.
6
Operation Manual
After confirming that the power of this detector is off, turn power on in the following procedure.
Start up application for APN3900-PC for detectgor power board and supply power to this
detector with the following procedure. As for power pre-ampliofier power and Pletier power, it is
supplied immediately after the power for detector board is turned on.
*If an oscilloscope is available, it is recommended to apply high voltage power while monitoring pre-
amplifier output signal.

Operation Manual
↓
“HV” lamp flashes and “Output Volt (V)” transits gradually to the set value.
↓
“HV” lights on to confirm the value goes to vicinity of “Voltage(V)” set as “Output Voltage”.
After applying high voltage power with rating 200V, followingf pre-amplifier output signal can
be confirmed on oscilloscope.
8
Operation Manual
5.4 Turn output of Peltier power and high voltage power off
At emergency stop or at end of measurement, turn off high voltage power at the first.
↓
Confirm that “HV” lamp lights off and “Output Volt(V)” displays value near to 0V.
To finish application for detector power board APN3900-CP, click “Quit” from menu “file”.
As for usage of data acquisition application in this system, refer to appendix “DSP software manual”.
(1) When not in use for a long period, turn pre-amplifier power off by turning high voltage power as
well as power rack off.
(2) When using under atmospheric pressure, measure in a dark place without fail. If light continues
to invade directly into detector, it may cause breakage.
(3) After measurement under vacuum state and return to atmospheric pressure, do it slowly.
9
Operation Manual
Otherwise, windlw may be broken.
(4) Do not touch SDD detector directly. AP3.3 window may be broken.
(5) When monitoring pre-amplifier output signal oscilloscope, if the wave form stays at a certain
level, without forming sawtooth form, despite of applying high voltage power, turn high voltage
power off immediately and turn power rack off, too.
