PASSIVE VOICE REVIEW (REVISIÓN VOZ PASIVA)

Passive voice is used whenever we want to

emphasize the action and/or when the doer of the action is unknown, unimportant
or obvious. (La voz pasiva se utiliza cada vez que se quiera dar importancia a la acción y/o
cuando el sujeto de dicha acción se desconoce, no es importante o es obvio por el contexto).

Example:

All the assignments are going to be corrected during this week.

What’s important? That they are going to be corrected.

Who’s going to correct them? The teacher (it’s not mentioned because it’s obvious
because of the context)

Ejemplo:

Los trabajos prácticos van a ser corregidos durante esta semana.

¿Qué es lo importante? Que los trabajos serán corregidos.

¿Quién los va a corregir? La profesora. (El sujeto no se menciona porque en este caso es obvio
por el contexto).

Passive voice is always formed with the corresponding

form of the verb to be and the main verb in past
participle (3rd column).
Examples:

 The car was repaired.

 They are called by the headmaster.
 Bears can be transferred by land.
 The computer is being checked.

La voz pasiva siempre se forma con la forma que corresponda del verbo to be y el verbo
principal en participio (verbo en tercera columna)

Ejemplos:

 El auto fue reparado.

 Ellos son llamados por el director de la escuela.
 Los osos pueden ser transportados por tierra.
 La computadora está siendo revisada.
