all measurements are given width first, then height; keep this in mind when cutting fabrics with an “up”

Make the half-square triangles:


Place each of the illustrated pairs of fabrics right sides together with raw edges aligned. Draw a
diagonal line from one corner to another, as shown (red line). Stitch 1/4” away from this line on
EACH sides, making two seams (black dotted lines). Trim apart along the red line at center,
leaving a 1/4” seam allowance on each side. This makes TWO half square triangles.
Press seams toward darker fabric.
Repeat with each pair of fabrics to make the total number shown. Trim to the sizes indicated.

Assemble the final block by stitching all three units, right sides together, in the order shown. Press
seam allowances to one side. Trim to 12.5” x 12.5” if necessary. Set aside until quilt top assembly.
