GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES

WAR

It's the second world war happened in Japan where many people die. All the houses are destroyed and
the country was really in a mess. The war cause poverty and many bad effects on the countrymen that
the survivors need to cope up.

BOMBS

Bombs in the movie are like rain, it's just pouring whenever and wherever it wants. Bombs cause people
to burn and die, makes houses into ashes, and destroy all the things where it landed. Because of the
bomb, the parents of Seita and Setsuko died.

POVERTY

Because of the raining of bombs, all the assets, houses, and plants of people were destroyed and it
cause poverty. Because of this, people don't know where they get food and their needs. The war led
them into poverty and the people who survive are still dying because of malnutrition because of lack of
food and water, like what happened to Setsuko.

YOUTH

Youth is one of the biggest victims of the war. Some of them don't know where they can get money to
buy food especially when their parents died during the war. Like what happened to Seita and Setsuko,
Setsuko is young and Seita is already a youth, their parents died during the war and one of their biggest
problems is their food that's why Setsuko's health was put at risk which cause her to die.

HOPE
Despite their situation, people didn't lose hope that's everything will return as before. Seita hopes that
despite their situation, he can still save her sister even though it's impossible. All of them hope that they
can still survive after everything they have is already gone.

SIBLING LOVE

Seita and Setsuko's love for each other is unconditional, they stay on each other's side all the time. Seita
did everything so that they have food to eat even though he's already stealing someone's property, he
make Setsuko happy at their situation to save Setsuko, and he did everything to save her beloved sister.
And Setsuko always waiting for her brother to come back and tries to help him to all she can.

FIREFLIES

The fireflies serve as the lights on the darkest days of the siblings. The fireflies are one of the favorites of
Setsuko that even when they die, Setsuko buried them because she learned that their mother was
already in a grave. Fireflies serve as their light and also their hope that even in the darkest days there's
still alight.

SURVIVAL

Being in the war was a survival. Imagine flying bombs, burning houses, and people being burned are
hard to avoid. You need to be strong and tough to survive a war because if you're weak you'll just die.
Being a survivor is not a joke because the trauma and the impacts after the war will remain on you.
