Introduction

 Transportation has been one of civilizations key factors in thriving

 most advanced civilizations were able to transport goods, as well as people, across
the land.
o Roman Bridges, canals, piping system
o Aztec waterways
 In today’s civilization transportation has been developed to the highest efficiency
within our limited resources

Introduction Cont
 Physical goods can be transported to anywhere and if requested, anytime, on the

planet.

 People can also be transported to all nations within the globe.

 This method of large-scale transportation has become an efficient standard, in the

world throughout.

Problems

 As the scope of transportation becomes smaller, that is, when we focus the need

for transportation on the small-scale. We come across some problems.

 City- wide transportation has to deal with large-scale traffic jams as well as an

ever-increasing volume of transportation vehicles.

Solutions

 Cities adapt by expanding highways, and creating better public transportation

systems.

 One of the most efficient methods of public transportation within a small-distance

scale is the metro-mover

FIU Problem

 FIU currently employs a shuttle service that communicates the main campus with

the engineering center.

 Many issues have come from the shuttle, mainly the time schedules and traffic.

FIU Solution

 One of the most efficient methods of public transportation within a small-distance

scale is the metro-mover.

 An improvisation of the shuttle service would be a direct transportation system

that will connect both campuses, without the hassle of traffic and with the

convenience of a friendlier schedule.

Benefits

 A metro mover would be a very good improvement to the campus,

 It would raise the university’s ability to market itself to prospective students.

 Costs will be replaced with in the first years in fuel, operating, and maintenance

savings.

 Constantly traveling back and forth, allowing trips on much more constant and

reliable schedule.

FIU at a glance *(something like this)

 A big issue in any commuter school is transportation, and Florida International

University is no exception.

 As the main campus itself is relatively large and is well suited for its student body

of 45,000 students.

 The college of engineering found that it was too crowded and they needed a

separate site to host their classes.

 The solution came with a separate engineering center with a transportation of

biodiesel shuttles.
Benefits of Idea

 With the ever-growing need for GREEN transportation, the proposed vehicle

would offer that and more as it can be expanded to a wide scale range across

each campus and future campus branches.

 Quite simply, the idea is a tram system. With a station mounted on both the

main campus Parking Garage 5 and the Engineering campus roof-top.

 carts would be able to dock on either side for evening recharging and

maintenance if any at all.
