human beings, concerned with human behavior, human biology, and cultures.

Through the recovery and examination of material culture, archaeology is the study of human
activity. Objects, architecture, bio facts or eco facts, and cultural landscapes make up the
archaeological record. Archaeology may be considered a social science, as well as a humanities
branch. It has different purposes, ranging from understanding the origins of civilization to
reconstructing past lives to recording and describing changes over time in human societies.

2. Over time, the humanities and the arts have been important to all human cultures. Their research
will promote deeper intercultural understanding and lay the foundations for a life that is civically
engaged. They can also prepare you, in a rapidly changing world, to think critically, act
creatively, and thrive.

3. The essence of this curriculum to me as a person and as a maritime student is that it will help me
adapt with the rapidly changing environment. This will help me understand people and will
promote my intercultural understanding. As a person who will meet different kind of races, this is
important to me to be more understanding towards another race when I’m at different countries.
This is also important to lessen misunderstanding among different cultures.
