Thursday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time, Evening Prayer

INTRODUCTION I
O Lord, remember David *
God, + come to my assistance. and all the many hardships he endured,
– Lord, make haste to help me. the oath he swore to the Lord, *
his vow to the Strong One of Jacob.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Spirit: “I will not enter the house where I live *

Almighty God, whose will supreme
Made ocean’s flood with life to teem; At Ephrathah we heard of the ark; *
Part in the firmament to fly, we found it in the plains of Yearim.
And part in ocean depths to lie: “Let us go to the place of his dwelling; *
let us go to kneel at his footstool.”
Appointing fishes in the sea,
And fowls in open air to be; Go up, Lord, to the place of your rest, *
That each, by origin the same, you and the ark of your strength.
Its separate dwelling place might claim: Your priests shall be clothed with holiness: *
your faithful shall ring out their joy.
Grant that thy servants by the tide For the sake of David your servant *
Of Blood and Water purified do not reject your anointed.
No guilty fall from thee may know,
Nor death eternal undergo. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
Let none despair through sin’s distress, as it was in the beginning, is now, *
Be none puffed up with boastfulness; and will be for ever. Amen
That contrite hearts be not dismayed,
Nor haughty souls in ruin laid. Ant. Let your holy people rejoice, O Lord, as they

O Father, that we ask be done,

The Lord swore an oath to David; *
