1.0 INTRODUCTION

This report covers the Insulating Coating Trial Application performed by CWS Global Coatings
Co., Ltd jointly with PT Bunga Harapan on Onstream Wellhead KRH # 4-3 for PT Pertamina
Geothermal Energy Karaha Field, using Mascoat Industrial-DTI.
Afore-mentioned application was carried out on 30 May 2018 from 1400 to 1730 hrs.
Final inspection & assessment was conducted on the same day.

1.1 Objectives
i) Reduce the exposed surface temperatures to acceptable levels in accordance
to Personnel Protection Standards ASTM C-1055.
ii) Prevent CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation).
iii) Reduction in overall heat loss translating to energy savings & ROI for
company.
iv) Provide thermal insulation.
v) Prevent thermal shocking which affects cargo.

1.3 Scope of Work
1.3.1 Surface Preparation
• Perform SSPC-SP 1 Solvent Cleaning.
• Perform SSPC-SP 2 Hand Tool Cleaning.
1.3.2 Coating Application
• Supply & Apply Mascoat Industrial-DTI @ 3.0 to 3.5 mm DFT.

1.4 Coating Selection
MASCOAT INDUSTRIAL-DTI
Mascoat Industrial-DTI is a composite ceramic & silica-based
insulating coating that provides an insulating barrier, protects
personnel and blocks corrosion all in one application.

2.0 PRE-APPLICATION ASSESSMENT

Substrate was coated with aluminium-pigmented high temperature paint.
There were no significant coating failures on the surface of area to be coated.
Ambient Temperature TA = 25.4°C
Substrate Temperature TS = 136.4°C

Fig. 16, 17 & 18 – Average Mascoat surface Temperature (TM) approx. 53 to 72°C.

Ambient Temperature TA = 25.4°C
Substrate Temperature TS = 136°C
Average Mascoat-Coated Temperature TM = 53 to 72°C
Temperature Reduction (Difference) TD = - 83 to 64°C
Percentage Reduction (Difference) %D = - 47 to 51 %

In accordance to Mascoat’s Surface Temperature VS TM/5s Temperature Chart above, the
resultant TM/5s temperature is approximately 44°C.

7.0 FINAL COMPLETION & ACCEPTANCE

Date Performed : 30 Aug 2018

Conclusion

The above Surface Preparation and Protective Coating works performed using Mascoat
Industrial-DTI has yielded a resultant Mascoat Surface Temperature (TM) of 53 to 72°C.
This translates to a TM/5s temperature of approximately 44°C.
This result been inspected and accepted to meet Personnel Protection Standard ASTM C1055’s
acceptance criteria of TM/5s < 60°C.
