1. What is globalization?
o Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people,
companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by
international trade and investment and aided by information technology. It is
about the interconnectedness of people and business across the world that
eventually leads to global cultural, political, and economic integration. It is the
ability to move and communicate easily with others all over the world in order to
conduct business internationally. Globalization aims to benefit individual
economies around the world by making markets more efficient, increasing
competition, limiting military conflicts, and spreading wealth more equally.

2. What did globalization bring to the world?

o Globalization is an established part of the modern world, so most of us do not
realize the benefits it brings to our everyday lives. It impacts businesses in many
different ways. Studies suggest that globalization may contribute to income
disparity and inequality between the more-educated and less-educated members
of a society. This means that unskilled workers may be affected by declining
wages, which are under constant pressure from globalization. Regardless of the
downsides, globalization is here to stay. The result is a smaller and more
connected world. Socially, globalization has facilitated the exchange of ideas and
cultures, contributing to a world view in which people are more open and
tolerant to one another. In short, through better communication, globalization
promotes understanding and goodwill among different countries.

3. What are some positive effects of globalization?

o For many developing nations, globalization has led to an improvement in
standard of living through improved roads and transportation, improved health
care, and improved quality education due to the global expansion of
corporations. As a result, many manufacturing jobs leave developed nations and
move to developing nations. From virtual connections to more affordable goods,
such as clothing and food, globalization has been beneficial to many aspects of
society. This is because globalization has led to reduced costs of goods and
increased trade. Globalization has also led to greater cultural understanding. The
society became more connected and united because of the optimistic modern
changes caused by this.

4. What has led to an increased globalization?

o Globalization has become a familiar enough word, the meaning of which has
been discussed by others before me during this conference. The world economy
has become increasingly interdependent for a long time. However, in recent
decades the process of globalization has accelerated; this is due to a variety of

factors, but important ones include improved trade, increased labor and capital
mobility and improved technology. Innovative transportation technologies of the
21st century facilitate the migration of people across the world for trade and the
search of new opportunities. In addition, international organizations such as the
World Trade Organization remove barriers from trade, leading to integration of
world economies.

5. How do you situate the Philippines in globalization?

o The Philippines is a thriving economy. Creating new ties and fixing alliances,
new employment opportunities as well as allowing those who work in low skilled
jobs to level up and learn new skills of the trade. While the globalization of the
Philippine’s has drastically uprooted the culture and people, I think that
globalization has offered new opportunities for the individual as well as the state
to grow. I believe that the Philippines is in its baby steps of globalization, and
although within the past ten years the economy has flourished, more
improvement needs to be done in the governance of the country. I think that the
Philippines has all the tools and support to fully globalize and industrialize,
however the political systems in place need to be stronger and more coherent
with the goals of the public. I trust that within the upcoming twenty to thirty
years, with the right governance, aid, and support, Philippines will be competing
with their neighbors at equal or even better rates. The will of the Philippine
people will overcome their adversities and learning curves and over time will be a
force to be reckoned with.
