❑ Burgundy produces both White & Red ❑ Bourgogne's in French – are extraordinary wines.
Wines and their best Wines are among
the best in the World. ❑ The system of land ownership is complex. Burgundy has thousands of
tiny vineyards, each of which has multiple owners.
❑ Located in Central Eastern France, it
has very hot summers and severe winters. ❑ Two grape varieties dominates.

❑ On the bank of Saône River. ❑ All top White Burgundies are made from Chardonnay.

❑ All top red come from Pinot Noir.

Grapes:
Côte d’Or : apparently translates as “Golden Slope”

Viticulturally it is divided into 2 sectors:

of Pinot Blanc. ❑ Côte d’Nuits – in which great red wines are made from Pinot Noir.

❑ Côte de Beaune – where the reds are joined by the finest white grapes

city of Beaune but also from 16 villages around Beaune

❑ Côte de Beaune Villages is a different appellation.
❑ Red – Pinot Noir
❑ Wines from all the Côte de Beaune area can substitute their local
❑ White – Chardonnay, small amount appellation with this regional type of appellation
of Pinot Blanc.

❑ The large bulk producing area in the south of Burgundy.
