Dr. Zahid is an accomplished Islamic finance expert of financial sector regulations & supervision, standards setting and advisory. He is currently
working for Central Bank of Oman where he advises on Islamic finance policy, regulatory and governance framework and handles interactions with
multilateral institutions. Dr. Zahid is a member of the ‘Governance and Ethics Board’ of “AAOIFI” and ‘Responsible Finance & Investment Foundation
(UK)’. He has also contributed as member of various working groups and committees of the global bodies, including Basel Committee’s Consulta-
tive Group (BCG), IMF, Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), International Association of Insurance Supervisors, AAOIFI, IAS etc.
Dr. Zahid started his career from State Bank of Pakistan. Later-on, he served IFSB in various roles including Acting Secretary General, Assistant
Secretary General-Technical and Research, where he led the rolling out of global regulatory reforms in Islamic banking, Takaful, Islamic capital
market and financial inclusion sectors. Overall, he supervised more than 15 IFSB standards and Technical Notes, 10 working papers and five annual
flagship Islamic Finance Stability Reports. He also steered the launching of global database project on Islamic finance indicators, called PSIFIs. He
has completed his PhD in Islamic banking and finance from International Islamic University Malaysia. Simultaneously, he is an MBA from Pakistan,
CIFP from INCEIF, Malaysia and PGD in Islamic banking and insurance from IIBI, London.
