1. INTRODUCTION
The On line Self Cleaning Filter is used in conjunction with the Systea On line Analyzers, the filter is
started by the Analyzer and controlled for cleaning cycle, filtering time etc. by an integrated PLC.
1.1. Hydraulic
This section includes a PVC body that allows to have the sample always available in a fast loop circuit. The
PVC body contains the filters realized in AISI 316 L specifically designed to avoid clogging from suspended
solids contained in the sample. The sample is extracted form the filter thank one, or more peristaltic pumps
and stored in the filtered sample overflow connected to the analyzer..
1.2. Pneumatic
The unit includes an air compressed circuit valve and injection system to allows the self cleaning of the filter.
The self cleaning operation are under control of the integrated PLC.
1.3. Electric
The electric section includes:
- Power supply
- Air compressed solenoid valve
3. Principle of operation
The Systea On Line analyzer, when start analysis close the Busy contact until the analysis end. Busy
contact is used to close the Start contact on the Filter unit . The Filter starts to filter sample as long as
programmed in the Filter PLC; during the filtration time the clock counter, that control the self cleaning cycle
is activated. When the programmed time for self cleaning expire, the air compressed valve is open, for a
selected time, to inject air.

10. INSTALLATION
1) Mount the filter and the analyzer side by side at not more than 50/70 cm of distance fixing them on the wall
or on a proper frame.
2) Fix the Filtered sample pot to the wall or to a proper frame and connect it to the filter, the analyzer and the
waste line
Note: the length of sample overflow (n. 15), can be adjusted to have in the pot only the volume the
analyzer need for each run, to adjust the filtered sample volume, unscrew the straw and cut to the
desired length.
It is suggested to calculate the sample volume the analyzer need for each run, before to cut the straw,
the cut the straw allowing the pot to contain sample vo0lume + 5%.
This will avoid carry over between samples during analysis.
3) Supply the requested power supply to both units, (standard power supply is 12 V dc +/- 10%)
4) Connect the Start contact to the Busy contact of the analyzer
5) Connect the sample to the filter inlet
6) Connect waste tubes
7) Allows the sample to flow in the filter fast loop, (note that the sample delivery to the filter inlet is at
customer care)
8) Check for hydraulics leakage

11. PLC OPERATION
To modify the operation time, perform the following operations:
1. Press Esc
Notes:
- B002 means air valve (6) opening time, do not exceed 2-4 sec, for the back washing of the filter with air.
- B003 is the time interval between two opening of the valve (6). This time is related to the suspended solid
concentration of the sample, meaning that a big amount of SS have to consider a frequent opening of the
valve, then a short interval.
- B004 is reserved time for CPU interval, normally is 0.5 sec.
- B008 is the pumping time, and is related to the distance of the filter and the sample storage bottle,
normally is 120 to 300 seconds.
- B009 not used.
- B011 is reserved time for CPU interval, normally is 0.5 sec.
Note that when the contact busy is closed the filter will work for time B008, but as soon as the contact
is open the filter will stop.

12. SUGGESTIONS
• Do not run the unit below 5 °C;
• Do not allow pumping of solids in the silicon tube
13. MAINTENANCE
• Change the pump's tube about every 200 hours, if the motor's speed is set to 110 rpm.
• Change the motor's brushes every 2000 hours about.
• Clean the filter every 10 days about, or more frequently if you have very dirty water.
