I. Thelma's Wedding (pp. 241- 244)

Song: Marry You - Bruno Mars

- a traditional and superstitious Chinese wedding

- the reception was held at a big restaurant along Dewey Boulevard

---> Western style, not anymore Chinese

1. Pearls are not lucky for a bride (p.241)

- for it will bring tears

2. Wedding veils must be short (p.241)

- for long ones are like heavy burdens you must drag through life

3. (At Raoul's house) everyone ate noddles and pink-dyed eggs. (p. 251)

--> for good luck

4. Chicken under the bed (pp.251-253)

- the couple would go on a bed, a chicken is placed under the bed, and the direction where it will come out would
determine the baby's gender

--> the chicken did not come out.

"We were not blessed."

II. Thelma and Raoul (1920's)

Song: Love Story by Taylor Swift =))

The big meet ! (pp.245-250)

- arranged by Thelma's ninang Lorena

- Thelma was twenty-two years old !

- Thelma's mother thought it failed due to Thelma's audacious behavior

Raoul

- intelligent/well-educated

- an engineer

- comes from a highly respected Chinese family

- has old, wealthy parents

- sophisticated

- very 'suave'/handsome/'gwapo'

- quite dark for a Chinese

- a playboy aka Don Juan

- likes to party

Thelma

- strong

- didn't follow the tradition of acting like a girl in the first meeting (the fan and acting shy, etc.)

- STARED back at Raoul's mother (mother "oh no, she di-dn't")

- ordinary girl
- made many social mistakes (for she did not know Chinese customs and Raoul's world.)

- "too fiery"

III. Angelo (pp. 276-302)

Song: Baby by Justin Bieber :)

- Caridad was not the first one.

- the baby of Raoul and Lisa

- Raoul brought him

- After weeks, Thelma learned to love Angelo as her own

THELMA FOUND OUT - p.288

Song: Whatcha Say - Jason Derulo (in this case... female version?)

- wives of Raoul's co-workers were talking about it (mga chismosa !)

Thelma left Raoul (pp. 289-291)

Song: Hold On - Jonas Brothers

- her mother rebuked her, saying "men will be men"

LISA (pp.291-297)

- came on Angelo's fifth birthday "I want my son back."

"There is nothing I do not already know." - Thelma

Angelo died :( (pp. 298-300)

- he started losing weight

- his pallor was fading

- he started vomiting

- his head swelled up

- He died of Meningitis (water in the brain)

Thelma blamed God (pp.300-302)

"I no longer believe"

Angelo

- made Raoul more responsible

- knowledge is power; information is strength (a lesson for Thelma)

- faith: God is speaking to us through the people we love, the people we once did, and those who passed away.

IV. Caridad (pp. 305-313)

- Thelma realized how bad Emma's situation was when she found out that Emma sold Ligaya's piano.

- She asked Emma to give little Caridad to her, and in return she will send Emma's family back to Manila and
provide for them. (She also demanded everyone's silence.)

Caridad = charity "she will need lots of it in this life "

Thelma: "she won't need to live off charity anymore."

That's the end of Thelma's second chapter.

The last chapter may or may not be posted later night, so just keep updated.

I want to clarify more things:

1. The LIT THQ is Arial 12 (or 11), line spacing: 1.5, and only 1-2 pages.

2. I don't send by e-mail. (I get annoyed when I already posted the reviewer tapos may nagtatanong: can you send
it to me?)

3. If I'm missing some stuff, tell me right away !

4. I shall post something about the stuff BEFORE TLTISM but discussed in the second term.
5. Sections 3 and 4, may I borrow notes about SS?

6. SAVE THE EARTH, PEOPLE ! If you have to print, print it back to back ! Kung tamad, e di print it on scratch paper!
Kung ayaw pa rin, wag ka na lang magprint :))

... I have no joke :| I can't believe it ...
