Battery Removal
/// WARNING /// // CAUTION //
Failure to adhere to Safety Critical Note(s) may increase Handle the Battery Pack with care. If dropped to the
risk of rupture, burning, or failure to function safely when floor, it may be internally damaged and must be
used by the customer. Refer to the Battery Safety scrapped.
Guidelines.
Ensure Battery and its insulation are not damaged (e.g.
scratched, dented, punctured) prior to and throughout
assembly.
Prior to assembly, ensure Battery edges and surfaces
are not dented or deformed, and that fixtures and parts
that will contact the Battery are free of foreign material.
Ensure screws and screwdrivers do not contact the
Battery.
NOTE
The Battery can be recovered and
reused after removal.
NOTE
After you remove the Battery and MSM
Shield Heatspreader, you cannot reuse
it.
NOTE
The L-Shaped Bracket can be
recovered and reused after removal.
// CAUTION //
Use caution when removing the 2-Sided
Heatspreader. Do not tear the 2-Sided
Heatspreader, which is also assembled to the
bottom of the PCB. If the 2-Sided Heatspreader is
damaged, you must remove the PCB and
assemble a new 2-Sided Heatspreader. See PCB
Preparation on page 76.
// CAUTION //
Use caution when removing the Battery. Do not
touch or bend the Heat Pipe or damage to the
Heat Pipe may occur. The Heat Pipe is located on
the Housing, under the PCB and to the right of the
Battery.
10. Slide the Thin Plastic Spudger toward the top left
corner of the Battery and Housing to separate
the Battery Adhesive.

// CAUTION //
Use caution when assembling the 2-Sided
Heatspreader. Do not tear the 2-Sided
Heatspreader, which is also assembled to the
bottom of the PCB. If the 2-Sided Heatspreader is
damaged, you must remove the PCB and
assemble a new 2-Sided Heatspreader. See PCB
Preparation on page 76.
// CAUTION //
FPS bonding surface cleaning is critical to the
phone’s water resistance. You must thoroughly
clean the bonding surface with ISP Alcohol and
allow it to dry completely before applying
3M AP-111 Adhesion Promoter.
// CAUTION //
Do not use the same cotton swabs to clean with
ISP Alcohol and apply 3M AP-111 Adhesion
Promoter. The FPS will not properly adhere to the
Display if the cotton swabs are reused. The cotton
swabs may be used for 2 applications of the same
chemical, but then must be discarded.
// CAUTION //
Display bonding ledge cleaning is critical to the
phone’s water resistance. You must thoroughly
clean the surface with ISP Alcohol and allow it to
dry completely before applying 3M AP-111
Adhesion Promoter.
// CAUTION //
Do not use the same cotton swabs to clean with
ISP Alcohol and apply 3M AP-111 Adhesion
Promoter. The Display will not properly adhere to
the Housing if the cotton swabs are reused. The
cotton swabs may be used for 2 applications of
the same chemical, but then must be discarded.
// CAUTION //
Verify that the ISP Alcohol and 3M AP-111
Adhesion Promoter have dried completely before
proceeding. Failure to do so can cause the
Display to improperly adhere and reduce the
phone’s water resistance.

// CAUTION //
Display bonding surface cleaning is critical to the
phone’s water resistance. You must thoroughly
clean the surface with ISP Alcohol and allow it to
dry completely before applying 3M AP-111
Adhesion Promoter.
// CAUTION //
Do not use the same cotton swabs to clean with
ISP Alcohol and apply 3M AP-111 Adhesion
Promoter. The Display will not properly adhere to
the Housing if the cotton swabs are reused. The
cotton swabs may be used for 2 applications of
the same chemical, but then must be discarded.
// CAUTION //
Verify that the ISP Alcohol and 3M AP-111
Adhesion Promoter have dried completely before
proceeding. Failure to do so can cause the
Display to improperly adhere and reduce the
phone’s water resistance.
