INTRODUCTION
A good speaker thinks about the delivery method, or the
ways in which the speech will be conveyed to the
audience. There are few ways in which this is done: Four
Types of Speech Delivery: Impromtu Speech,
Extemporaneous, Manuscript and Memorized-
Baumeyer, (study.com, 2017).
 What is speech?
Speech is the expression of
ideas and thoughts by means
of articulate vocal sounds, or
the faculty of thus expressing
ideas and thoughts,
(dictionary.com).
TYPES
OF
SPEECH
DELIVERY
1.Impromptu Speech - a speech that has no
advance planning or practice.
Tips that can be use:
Think about what are you going to say.
Answer briefly and directly.
Compose yourself before elaborating
your answer.
2.Extemporaneous Speech - involves the
use of notes and some exaggeration to
deliver the speech.
Tips that can be use:
Have noted cards that will serve as your guide.
Use your ownn words as you go along
Use cues to know where to go next.
Rehearse you speech fortoming, rythm and flow.
3.Manuscript Speech - a
speech in which the
speaker reads every
word of the entire
literature.
Strength of Manuscript Speech
Reading directly from the pages of a script will
make you not miss a single word or imortant
fact.
Weakness of Manuscript Speech
Without eye contact, animation or movement on
stage, the aduience may become disinteresteed
4.Memorized Speech - is a speech that is
recited from memory rather than read from
cue or using the assistance of notes. This
method of speech delivery does not come as
highly recommended as others.
Tips that can be use in Manuscript and
Memorized speech deliveryl:
Focus on your vocal variety.
Keep the speech relatively short.
Practice and practice.
SUMMARY
Speech Delivery has its own array of
useful tools. The basic speech types
include impromptu, extemporaneous,
manuscript and memorized. Speaking
in public will allow you to not only
show your mastery of the subject or
information...
...but will also reveal your knowledge off
the audience. It is important that you
choose the right type of speech delivery
to match he kind of material or essay
and the audience who will listen to you.
