INBOARD GROUND SPOILER − ALLOWABLE DAMAGE

CAUTION: ALWAYS REFER TO THE SUBJECT PAGE BLOCK 101−199 APPLICABLE TO A GIVEN
STRUCTURAL ELEMENT FOR SPECIFIC ALLOWABLE DAMAGE LIMITS. IF THIS IS
NOT DONE, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOU WILL USE INCORRECT DATA.
YOU MUST REFER TO THE CONTINUING AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTION
REQUIREMENTS TO DETERMINE IF ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TOLERANCE
INSPECTIONS APPLY (REF. SRM 51−13−00).
1. General
When specific damage limits are not supplied in the subject for a given structural element, use the
general allowable damage limits in this chapter (refer to SRM 57−00−00, Page Block 101−199).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE REMOVED DAMAGE, INCLUDING ANY PREVIOUS DAMAGE
REMOVAL, IS WITHIN ALLOWABLE LIMITS AT ANY SPECIFIC LOCATION. RECORD
DAMAGE REMOVAL LOCATION.
2. Specific
For the allowable damage limits for the Inboard Ground Spoiler, refer to Figure 101.

A. If dents are in above limits for lower skin, repair as follows:

NOTE: This topic complies with Repair Engineering Order (REO) 601R−57−70−016.
(1) Make sure that the dents are smooth in contour, free of gouges, creases, nicks and
scratches.
(2) Do a liquid penetrant inspection (LPI),(refer to NDT 51−20−08) or an eddy current
inspection, (refer to NDT 51−20−06) to make sure that there is no crack on the internal and
external edges of the cutouts.
NOTE: It is permitted to do the liquid penetrant and eddy current inspections for 50 flight
hours. Do a detailed visual inspection with a 10X magnifier glass (refer to NDT
51−20−09) to make sure there is no cracks.
(3) If you find cracks or damage, send the damage report to Bombardier Aerospace (refer to
SRM51−13−01).
(4) Apply chemical conversion coating on exterior surface (refer to SRM 51−21−11).
(5) Refinish exterior surface to the original finish requirements (refer to SRM 51−25−01).
