1. Mounting displacement of the shaft.

Installed, the
cardan shaft must still have axial play.

arrangement drawing must be maintained.
Use only screws of strength grade 10.9 for
fastening. Nuts must be locked. If bolts are
screwed into flanges they must be

secured. Check bolts for tight fit after the
first 50 hours of operation, then after every
1000 hours.

If a cardan shaft has been accidentally

completely pulled apart, a locking device
within the wedge section guarantees that
both shaft halves can only be put together
in the correct position. Then, the arrow, Fig. 2
marks on the shaft halves coincide
(see Fig. 1). 1.2 Cardan Shaft Between 2 or 3 Exciters
(Intermediate Shaft)

Note : If two or three exciters are arranged

side by side all segments must have the

same position. The intermediate flanges
bolted on the exciter segments are provided
with a dowel pin (see Fig. 3). Drive this pin
in before bolting shaft. This ensures that the
correct bores in the intermediate flange face
each other and that all segments have the
same position, if the bores in the flanges of

to the side by ± 30 mm (Thus, the cardan
shaft is slightly at an angle which
improves its life).
