DATA SHEET
Section 1. IDENTIFICATION
E-mail :
Toxicity : Toxic by ingestion. Strong irritant to skin and tissue. TLV: 1mg / m3
A. Contact with skin : Remove the acid as fast as possible by flushing with plenty of water until
the pain subsides. If available, this maybe followed by a rinse with dilutes of
alkaline solution. Avoid rubbing burnt skin with your hands or any rough
object or clothing. It might aggravate the affected skin. The water splash or
pressure will be enough to wash-off the chemical. If there are wounds
caused by the chemical, visit and consult a physician.
B. Contact with eyes : Flush with large amounts of water, lifting the eye lids occasionally. Let the
victim stay under the shower of clean water until the pain is relieved. Get
medical attention immediately.

whatever needs to be repaired. Follow your company’s local procedures in conducting
repairs that contains acid. To clean the brownish spots of spills and leaks wash with dilute
hydrochloric acid.
B. Spills : Spilled Ferric Chloride should be flushed out with plenty of water. Small quantities may be
neutralized with soda ash and flushed to sewer.
B. Storage : Safeguard against mechanical injury of containers, Carboys of ferric chloride should
never be stored more than three tiers high, preferably two tiers. Recommended packing
are plastic carboys, fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks and hard rubber lined steel tanks
and drums.
A. Eye Protection : Wear chemical safety goggles or spectacle-type safety goggles where
continuous eye protection is desirable as in laboratories. Face shield may be
worn in addition to chemical safety goggles.
B. Respiratory
Protection : Industrial canister type gas masks should be worn. Other breathing
apparatus
may also be worn as necessary.
C. Head
Protection : “Hard” hats should be worn where there is danger from falling objects.
D. Feet Protection : Rubber safety shoes with built-in steel toe caps are recommended.
E. Body, Skin
and Hand
Protection : Rubber gloves and aprons should be worn.
Additional information : Liquid ferric chloride is slightly acidity. When mixed with alkaline
solutions iron hydroxide is precipitated which makes the solution brownish
red. When heated to decomposition, emits hydrogen chloride fumes.
A. Contact with skin : Harmful if absorbed through the skin. Can cause strong irritation and
burning sensation to skin and tissue.
B. Contact with eyes : Harmful if absorbed by the eyes. Can cause sore eyes or severe eye
irritation.
C. Inhalation : Can cause coughing and sneezing. Inhalation may be fatal as a result of
spasm, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting, inflammation
and edema of the larynx & bronchi, chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary
edema.
