What is
the importance of this history to our life in present? (40pts)
Studying Philippine history is significant because it is necessary to understand and know what
happened in the past in order to appreciate the country's future and current position. History
provides us with vital insights into the issues that face our present civilization. Many of the
problems, characteristics, and features of current Philippine society can be linked back to
historical questions about our colonial past and pre-colonial culture. So, what exactly is the
value of learning history? History contributes to a more thorough understanding of the world.
You can't develop a life without first understanding how things work in the world. History gives
us a thorough picture of how society, technology, and government functioned in the past so
that we may better understand how they function today. It also allows us to learn from past
mistakes. It allows us to comprehend the numerous motivations for people's actions. As a
result, it helps us become more empathetic people who make more objective decisions.

In our culture, how we adopt the cultures that we have in our country? How was the
Spaniards influencing our culture? (20pts)
According to our report, the Philippines is a Southeast Asian country with about 7,100 islands.
There are three major groupings on the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The official
languages of the country are Filipino and English. The eight principal language branches spoken
in the country are Tagalog, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Pangasinan, Waray, Cebuano, Ilonggo, and
Bikol. Tagalog, on the other hand, is the Philippines' most extensively taught language. Three
major cultures have had a significant impact on Filipino culture: Chinese, Spanish, and
American. History shaped the evolution of Filipino cultural life, which influenced their
character, as well as how people think and act. The Spaniards have a strong influence on our
culture. The imposition of the Roman Catholic faith on the Filipino community has had a long-
term impact on the culture and society of the Philippines. Christianity has had a huge impact on
the Filipinos as a result of their conversion to Christianity. At least 80% of Filipinos are
Christians, with Roman Catholics constituting the majority. Like Hispanics, Filipinos frequently
build altars in their homes. On the altar are commonly found the cross, flowers, candles, saints'
portraits, and a figure of the Virgin Mary.
What are the amendment procedures under the 1935 Constitution? (20pts)
The Constitution can only be changed by submitting a Bill to either House of Parliament. The Bill
must then be adopted by a two-thirds majority of the members present and voting in each
House, as well as a majority of the whole membership of each House. The 1935 Constitution
served as the legal foundation for the Commonwealth Government, which served as a
transitional government prior to the grant of Philippine independence under an American-
inspired constitution. The Philippine government will eventually model its administration after
that of the United States.

How was the 1973 constitution presented to the people for approval? (20pts)
President Ferdinand Marcos issued a proclamation declaring martial law in the Philippines. This
began a 14-year period of one-man rule that would effectively last until Marcos was exiled from
the country. Since it is Martial Law, the people do not have the right to say if they oppose
because if they do, something bad could happen, and the constitution was passed and signed
faster because no one objected.
