History: Jollibee Foos Corporation
Jollibee is the largest fast food chain and a dominant market leader in the
Philippines, it enjoys the lion’s share of the local market that is more then all the other
multinational brands combined. The company has also embarked on an aggressive
international expansion plan n Vietnam, Brunei, Hongkong, Singapore, Macau,
Malaysia, US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Italy and the
United Kingdom.
HISTORY
Founded in 1975 when the founder along with his wife opened Magnolia Ice
Cream Parlor in Cubao, Quezon City. Unexpectedly, more and more customers were
asking for warm meals so the family decided to sell sandwiches and burgers but the
hamburgers were outselling the ice cream and that how Jollibee was born. The first
Jollibee outlet was opened in 1978 and it expanded gradually over the years as it grew
into an emerging global brand. It already has 1150 outlets in the Philippines and 234
outlets in international markets. The key product in their international expansion is fried
chicken, which Jollibee has christened “Chicken Joy”. Other iconic menu items include
the Yum Burger and the uniquely sweet Jolly spaghetti, which were introduced in the
early 1980s Jollibee is a company its customers hold very close to their hearts, tied up
with memories of home and childhood.
At the heart of its success is a family-oriented approach to personnel
management. making Jollibee one of the most admired employers in the region with an
Employer of the Year Award from the Personnel Management Association of the
Philippines Award from Hewitt Associated and a Top 20 Employer in Asia citation from
the Asian Wall Street Journal.
It is listed as JFC or Jollibee Food Corporation in the stock market that also owns
other popular fast food brands like Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Chowking, Mang Inasal,
and Burger King Philippines.
HISTORY
