Talk about the e-book cover with your child

• What can you see?
• How many children are on the cover?
• Why do you think they look puzzled?

Find the maths on every page!

There are questions for you to ask, with possible responses suggested
in brackets afterwards.

Page 1: What can you see? (footprints)

Are they big or little? How many toes are there?
Page 2: How many children can you see?
Page 4: How many now?
Page 6: What do you notice about the giant’s feet? (four toes)
Page 8: If everyone in the story stood in a line, the person
with the largest feet at one end, smallest at the other,
who do you think would be standing next to Chip?
(Biff and Mum)

Maths challenges!
• How many of your footsteps would it take to get to
the kitchen? How many footsteps long is the sofa?
• Make a paint footprint. When it’s dry, how many
penny coins would cover it?
