Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 4 - TV News

1. Activity Description
Type of activity: In Collaborative Group
Evaluation moment: Intermediate Unit 2

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

At the end of this activity the student will be able to understand the main points of
clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure,
etc.
The activity consists of:

News Program – Cities


For this activity, students are going to record a News TV Program. Each one of you will
record a video of you as anchor reporters (correspondents) describing your cities of
residence. Then you will send a poster with the five videos as a group.

Individually:

1. Decide in group what aspects of your cities you are going to talk about, so you avoid
repetition and have videos that connect. The topics are public transportation,
cultural events, economy, architecture, health.

2. Share the script of every video so you can give feedback to one another about
content and structure.

3. Then, record the individual videos and post them on the forum. Here an example of

These are the indications to record your video:

• The video must be recorded outside. It can be in a terrace or a balcony.


• Each video must be of about 2 minutes. So prepare a script of at least 500
words.
• Make sure your video is set as 'Unlisted' or 'Public'. If you set it as 'Private',
only you will have access to it.
• Remember, you will speak about your cities of residence about some of the next
aspects: public transportation, cultural events, economy, architecture, or health.
• It is fundamental that the language here is focused on the passive voice forms.
• Then, you share your videos and give feedback to one another.

4. Speaking sessions
Register your data in the link that is going to be sent inbox and participate in the
speaking sessions on Skype.

Collaborative:

• Get into an agreement about the topics to talk about in each video to avoid
repetition.

• Give input on your partners scripts, so they can be improved.

• Create a power point presentation, as a group poster, with the links to the videos.

For the development of the activity consider that:

In the Initial Information Environment, you must: check the agenda and interact in
the web conferences.

In the Learning Environment, you must: read the contents of the unit 2 and participate
actively in the forum.

In the Evaluation Environment, you must: Upload your final work Task 4: TV News.
Evidence of independent work:
The independent evidence to be submitted is: the script of the video and the video.
Post in the forum the following products: the script of the video.
Evidence of group work:
The group work evidence to be submitted is:
Just one member of the group must upload a PDF document, initially made on
a Power Point presentation, in the evaluative environment with the following
content:

6. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidence to Submit

For Group Work evidence, consider the following:

• All members of the group must participate with their contributions in the
development of the activity.
• In each group a single member will be chosen to submit the requested product in
the environment indicated by the teacher.
• Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it meets all
the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.
• Only the members of the group that participated with contributions during the
time assigned for the activity should be included as authors of the submitted
product.
Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
