INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE APPLICATIONS
OF THE MÖSSBAUER EFFECT, ICAME-2023
It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 37th
International Conference on the Applications of the Mössbauer
Effect, ICAME 2023, which will be held in Cartagena de Indias,
Colombia, September 3 - 8, 2023.

ORGANIZERS
Cartagena is known as the “Heroic city” where its history and culture
give visitors a magical experience. The fortifications stand as the
most complete of its kind in South America, an example of the
military architecture of XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries. The city is home
to cultural festivals such as the Cartagena International Music
Festival, going into its 13th edition in 2019. It gathers 230 musicians,
offers 42 concerts in 15 venues throughout the city. Since 11 full
days of magical music are not enough to grace our destination in
January, year after year, there is also the Hay Festival Cartagena de
Indias´ now entering its 14th edition. This festival promotes culture
and social responsibility. Literature, visual arts, cinema, music,
geopolitics, journalism, the environment, all go together with
dialogue and celebration. After twelve years, has become one of the
most important literary events in the Hispanic world.

Cartagena de Indias has the only World Heritage Historic Center certified as sustainable by
ICONTEC. More than 45 institutions public, private, academy and citizens worked together in
order to obtain this certification.
Local access
In Cartagena everything is nearby. It is easy to reach points of touristic and
cultural interest by foot or public transportation. Ease of access makes it
possible for visitors to rest from the everyday hassle of traffic and enjoy the
natural charm of the Caribbean alongside the majestic colonial architecture
across nearly 15 kilometers where the hotels, Convention centers, event halls,
and natural and historical venues for social events are located.

In our spectacular Getsemaní neighborhood you can find graffiti full of colors, history and

its most iconic bars, where tropical flavors and original mixes are the protagonists.
Nautical Experiences:
Cartagena de Indias Bay is the second safest in the world, perfect for carrying out all kinds
of nautical activities, such as corporate regattas and nautical team building activities, where
the breeze and the sea are the perfect setting for any event.
Mangroves Ecotour:
Cartagena de Indias is framed by mangroves, exploring them is a unique experience of
contact with nature. Through these ecotours visitors can appreciate local animals’ species,
flora and fauna and how all these elements live in harmony with the local communities of La
Boquilla, who lead this experience and show how to take care of this biome and its
importance for the ecosystem.

Colombian emeralds are internationally known for their excellent quality, in this
emerald workshop assemble the jewels of your dreams.
The scientific program will cover the traditional topics of the previous ICAME
conferences. Besides the key lectures, IBAME senior and young awarded
lecturers, invited conferences, and oral and poster presentations, we
are also planning the international school on Mössbauer spectroscopy,
an international forum on the impact of Mössbauer spectroscopy on
the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, we will
promote the women participation, and dedicate a special session for
young researchers, similarly as in ICAME-2019. It is worth mentioning that
the program of the conference will be articulated with several of the
Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations to transform our
world. We are also planning a hybrid type conference which includes both
face to face and virtual conferences.
