INTRODUCTION OF MAHARASHTRA
DISHES
 Maharashtrian or Marathi cuisine is the cuisine of the Marathi people from the
Indian state of Maharashtra. It has distinctive attributes, while sharing much
with other Indian cuisines. Traditionally, Maharashtrians have considered their
food to be more austere than others.
 Maharashtrian cuisine includes mild and spicy
dishes. Wheat, rice, jowar, bajri, vegetables, lentils and fruit are
dietary staples. Peanuts and cashews are often served with
vegetables. Meat was traditionally used sparsely or only by the well off until
recently, because of economic conditions and culture.
INTRODUCTION OF ODISHA DISHES

 Odia Cuisine is the cuisine of the state of Odisha. It has developed over time
with local culture and agriculture and hence has its distinct items and practices.
Odisha borders both north Indian states and south Indian states and
consequently is similar to the cuisines of South and North India.
 A typical Odia meal will comprise rice, dal, a vegetable dish or two, something
fried, and a fish curry. Or even meat. There's a lot of similarity between Odia
and Bengali food - the two cuisines in fact use pretty much the same kind of
spices and ingredients, but in the end they are quite distinct
1. MISSAL PAV

 One of the most famous Maharashtrian dishes which is


deemed the king of this state’s street food. It is made of
Missal which is a spicy curry made of moth beans and
Pav which is an Indian bread roll. The dish is garnished
with different types of Indian munchies like farsan, sev,
aloo laccha, to name some. Other than these, it is also
topped with coriander leaves and lemon and served
with a glass of buttermilk.
2.THALIPEETH

 A multi-grain pancake, this famous Maharashtrian


dish is also savoured in the regions of North
Karnataka. Thalipeeth is made from a special type
of flour called ‘bhajanee’ which comprises of
roasted grains viz. rice, wheat, bajra, and jowar and
legumes like chana and urad. The dough is mixed
with chopped onion, coriander leaves, and other
vegetables and spices to enhance the taste even
more.
3.KOTHIMBIR VADI

 One of the tastiest Maharashtrian foods,


this snack is made by mixing coriander
leaves with besan and water along with
some Indian spices and then steaming it to
get a cake-like structure. It is cut into
square pieces and finally served with some
spicy chilly and mint chutney.
4.MODAK

 Another traditional dish of Maharashtra and the


favourite of Lord Ganesh, Modak is a sweet dish
that is savoured by everyone in the state. The
authentic Modak is made from grated coconut
mixed with jaggery which is then filled into an outer
shell made from rice flour mixed with a little bit of
Maida. During Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, you
can find Modak in different flavours like chocolate,
pista, and kesar, to name some.
1.Pakhala Bhata

 A lunch staple for almost every household in the


state of Odisha, Pakhala Bhata offers a delectable
respite from the summer heat. Made from soaking
cooked rice in sour curd and water, this dish from
Odisha is served with fried fish, potatoes, Badi
choora, and papad on the side. Being a popular
food and main food of Odisha, this delicacy should
be one of your first dishes to try on your trip to
Odisha.
2.GUPCHUP

 Gupchup, which is known as ‘puchka’ in Bengal, ‘golgappa’


in the north, and ‘panipuri’ in western India, is the nation’s
favourite food. In this dish, crunchy hollow balls made from
Maida, atta, or suji; filled with chana masala and dipped in
spicy jal jeera, just enough to take your taste buds on a
whirlwind of flavours. The sheer burst of the gupchup in the
mouth, one of the most famous dishes of Odisha, makes
this crispy wonder an absolute delight that one can binge-
eat on their trip to Odisha.
3.CHHENA PODA

 Say hello to the cheesecake of Odisha – Chhena


Poda. You will be left obsessing over this delicacy
long after eating it. Baked for hours at a stretch, this
dish is made from burnt home-made cottage
cheese, sugar syrup, and semolina. The caramelized
sugar of Chhena Poda imparts a distinctive taste to
it and is one of those dishes of Odisha which you
can find in every lane and by-lane of the state.
4.KHAJA

 Served as a prasad in the temple of Lord


Jagannath on a daily-basis, Khaja is one of
the most delicious dishes of Odisha that
you can easily find in every nook and corner
of the city of Puri in Odisha. Refined wheat
flour is mixed with sugar and fried lightly in
some oil to make this delicious dish.
