Step 1:
Locate a Staff Worker
Staff members can often be found wearing
some or all of the following:

Directions: Pick a store you want to go to or are planning on going to and identify the
following items. Draw a picture or print pictures from the internet.

Uniform Uniform
Tops Bottoms

Uniform Company
Hat Colors

Name
Badge

Step 2:
Gain their Attention
How to appropriately gain someone’s attention:

1. Stand 1 arms length or more


away from the person.

2. Say: Excuse me, Ma’am


(Lady)
or Sir
(Man)

3. If they don’t hear you, you can


lightly tap their arm or shoulder.

Step 3:
State your Problem
Let them know how they can help you:

Directions: Pick a sentence frame below to help you state what your problem is. Write
a complete sentence.
Here are some possible sentence frames:

Step 4:
Listen
Be sure to listen to the answer they give you:

Directions: Use the following steps to make sure you are being a good listener.

Actively Listening

1. Make eye contact

2. Nod your head

3. If they move follow them

Repeat the Directions
Repeat the directions and they will correct you if needed:
